Not really idm, but one of the creepiest recordings I've heard of late is Gavin Bryar's _The Sinking of the Titanic_(Point). This piece is mostly a string quartet playing over and over the song that the band played as the Titanic sank with various sounds and treatments mixed in. Some of the stuff going on: -wood blocks playing some of the morse code sent out as the ship sank. -excerpts of interviews with the survivors. -"watery" sound treatment added to the strings as the ship sinks A really beautiful and haunting recording. Highly recommended. Another disturbing piece is _Absinthe_ by Naked City (Avant). Listening tho this was a very unsettling experience for me, but it may have been because I spent the entire disc tensed, waiting for the typical Naked City noise assault to come (it never does). c Cody Junior's Farm Records an interesting selection of music jrsfarm@tyrell.net send your wantlists http://www.tyrell.net/~jrsfarm/ visit our web pages
